We have been involved in telecommunications projects such as backbone fiber optic networks, transoceanic fiber optic cable to domestic network system connections, metro fiber optic loops, and diversity expansions. Our runningline design experience has encompassed conditions requiring construction methods including trenching, tractor-mounted cable/duct plowing, rail plowing, directional drilling, subaqueous plow and jetting techniques, and various rock excavation methods. We have used several methods for obtaining field design data and preparing permit and construction drawings. Our staff has used GPS data collection regularly since 1992. Laser measuring equipment and cable location devices are familiar equipment to our personnel. We have experience using various aerial photographic methods for base mapping and have gained considerable expertise in working with several digital file formats. Our right-of-way staff is experienced in obtaining difficult permits and property acquisitions. They understand the important land issues involved in OSP projects and have provided services along public roadways, pipeline corridors, railroad rights-of-way, Federal lands, Native American reservations, private lands, and other corridors to be occupied by telecommunications facilities. They are familiar with state and federal permit requirements as well as the many other right-of-way use permissions required by corridor projects.
